quote of the day [Aug. 19th, 2008|02:41 pm]

"Your only chance of survival, if you are sincerely smitten, lies in hiding this fact from the woman you love, of feigning a casual detachment under all circumstances. What sadness there is in this simple observation! What an accusation against man! However, it had never occured to me to contest this law, nor to imagine disobeying it: love makes you weak, and the weaker of the two is oppressed, tortured, and finally killed by the other, who in his or her turn oppresses, tortures, and kill without having evil intentions, without even getting pleasure from it, with complete indifference; that’s what men, normally, call love"

"Because we, the adults, don't just gleefully pull the wool over our own eyes - we knit permanent blindfolds. We've decided we hate facts. Hate, hate, hate them. Everywhere you look, we're down on our knees, gleefully lapping up neckful after neckful of steaming, cloddish bullshit in all its forms."

"A sexual reassignment surgery is a miracle for some people, but if you don't want one, it's the ultimate form of self-mutilation."

"Your "corporate gripes" cut no ice here. Immorality is obviously something you have no concept of. You try explaining what a pension is to someone who has been taught to kill at nine years of age just so they can eat that day. You've never had it so good."

quote of the day:
"Believe me, when the Fourth Reich (or whatever) finally arrives, and
the new, improved final solution starts rolling into gear, the
perpetrators won't be dumb enough to actually use the outmoded
symbolism of Nazism, which as this conversation proves, will probably
never be sufficiently de-stigmatized. They'd be much more likely to use
the American flag or the Christian cross or somesuch thing with more
pleasant and non-controversial associations, thus their take-over will
be subtle, and only a perceptive few will detect what's really going
on, and they will be dismissed as leftist extremists. Hey, wait..."

If music is dying, musicians are killing it [Jun. 30th, 2006|04:18 pm]

quote of the day (or closing words)

from Mike Patton:

"If music is dying, musicians are killing it. Composers are the ones decomposing it. We are as responsible as anyone--although we'd love not to admit it. We lash out at "The Industry", blaming things like corporate structure for our shitty music--but we are the ones making it. We open the box they've given us and jump in, wrap ourselves up, and even lick the stamp. Why? Insecurity--the need for acceptance--maybe even money. We're not thinking about our music, just how it looks. One would rather have the warm tongue of a critic licking his asshole than the tongue of his spouse. It gives him a sense of validity and power. He seems to defy gravity. Maybe it is because he doesn't know what the hell else to do. He sees it coming--but freezes with panic like a deer in the headlights. Don't laugh--I've done it and you probably have too. And it has undoubtedly effected out music. (But have we learned anything form it?) We know that we are mostly a lot of slobbering babies who need constant stroking. "

"Just as everyone loves their own tattoos the same applies to their children. Literally some times. Tattoos and children are exercises in vanity and to be truly subversive these days you should have neither.
If you indulge in either tattooing or procreation you run the risk of ending up like Dave Gahan or Gary Glitter" - Dan Crane 2003

quote of the day:

"If our fellow men could be aware of our opinions about them, love, friendship, and devotion would be forever erased from the dictionaries; and if we had the courage to confront the doubts we timidly conceive about ourselves, none of us would utter an 'I' without shame. "

"Capital must protect itself in every way... Debts must be collected and loans and mortgages foreclosed as soon as possible. When through a process of law the common people have lost their homes, they will be more tractable and more easily governed by the strong arm of the law applied by the central power of leading financiers. People without homes will not quarrel with their leaders. This is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of capitalism to govern the world. By dividing the people we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance to us except as teachers of the common herd."

help sourcing a quote [May. 9th, 2005|04:36 pm]

ooh look at me, i can't shut up today.

just wondered if anyone knew the origin of the quote:

"You asked me what was wrong and I smiled and said 'Nothing'... then i turned around and whispered 'Everything'."

i've seen it alternatively written as something like:

"You asked me what was wrong. I smiled and said nothing, but the second you turned around, a tear streamed down my face and I silently whispered to myself… 'everything'."
